Imogen's work explores ideas of relationship with space, by turning to familiar landscapes where she finds sanctuary and respite.
She has a love for the herds of wild horses that live freely in the mountains and valleys of South Wales, and has developed this passion into a project following their struggle for survival in a harsh and unforgiving landscape.
These animals inspire her photographically and beyond, so this project is as much about appreciation for them and what they have done for her, as well as admiration for their will to continue to live.
Horses have an influence in Imogen's day to day life, and she has an interest in how the sensitive nature of a horse can have an effect on our own emotions. A horse's inquisitive nature makes it an invaluable therapy animal, and this project delves into the feelings of peace and calm that is brought on by spending time with these herds on the exposed moorland.
This project is a personal statement about the majesty of these animals, and while their worth financially has greatly diminished, they are beyond pricing in other ways. Imogen aspires to work photographically within the equine sector, while maintaining her personal relationship with the wild mountain ponies.
